Students will explore photography and reporting, will extra focus on having deeper conversation and asking the big questions. Selecting the pool of interviewees is an important step they should negotiate ahead of time to help them hone their questions. They could chose to give voice to the many people on campus that students do not often get to know, the student body, the local community, etc.… While Facebook or Instagram are not often school-appropriate forums, they can share through their 8th grade blog for the community. Students could also create the profiles in documents set up like a Facebook post and create a wall mural to share with the campus. Emphasis on the language we use to connect authentically to interviewees and share stories of others through reported speech.
